Could Skipping a Meal or Two Give You Harder Erections?

Human beings have fasted – abstained from food – for thousands of years, for a variety of reasons…

Sometimes religious (I couldn’t care less about this reason)…

Sometimes for health (this reason interests me greatly!)…

To most westerners today, the idea of missing a meal is the equivalent of TORTURE!

Many folks can’t go an hour or two without feeling like they HAVE TO eat something…

And, a seriously high proportion of people think it’s dangerous to FAST! Yet nothing could be further from the truth…

Fasting can, in fact, be a powerful tool to improve health and performance.

Important point: generally speaking, children, pregnant women, and anyone who is frail or weak should not fast (unless under the guidance of a medical professional).

Let’s dig into this idea of fasting…

What is Fasting?

Fasting is, quite simply, going longer than you usually would without food.

Most people are ignorant to this FACT, but the truth is, most people could go WEEKS without food. I am not saying you should, but you could, if it were ever necessary.

Fasting could be as simple as missing a meal…

Or, it could be not eating for 1-2 days a month, or even 1-2 days a week.

An option that’s really popular right now is to, rather than miss meals, instead, reduce the window of time during which you eat – 8 hours being common. So, you might eat from 8am until 4pm, or from 12 noon to 8pm. You get the idea.

Of course, whatever type of fasting you do, you can drink as much WATER as you like, throughout the day (2 liters is usually a minimum).

Why is Fasting Beneficial?

In very simple terms…

  • Digesting foods (and drinks that contain calories) requires ENERGY
  • By FASTING – ie. not eating for a period of time – you give your DIGESTIVE SYSTEM a break
  • By giving your digestive system a break, your body has more energy left over to do other things – including to HEAL itself!

Quick story:

A while back I had a stomach ulcer and did a 3 day water fast…

During the fast I laid in bed, and slept as much as possible. When I wasn’t sleeping, I still laid in bed and RESTED.

I meditated once or twice a day. Aside from that, I drank water and did nothing else.

On the 4th day I broke the fast, with easy to digest foods – carrot juice, boiled sweet potato, some sweet juicy grapes – and gradually increased my food intake (back up to normal levels) over the course of 2 weeks.

Before the fast, as I said, I had a stomach ulcer. And I also had bloating, heartburn and constipation.

AFTER the fast it was like I had a NEW digestive system. No bloating, no gas, no heartburn, no constipation.

Now, sure, during the fast I lacked energy – but my body needed a break. It needed time to heal. And, once it healed, I felt BETTER than I had in YEARS.

Worth it?

You bet.

Am I saying you should do a 3 day water fast?

NO! Not unless you have the guidance of a medical professional like a naturopath.

However, I am going to make the case for doing some kind of fasting, in order to improve your sexual performance…

3 Fasting Options for Improving Male Sexual Performance:

1. Intermittent Fasting

I talked about this earlier.

With intermittent fasting you get a lot the benefits of regular fasting, without actually having to eat LESS! Instead, you just eat during a shorter period each day.

8 hours works really well. But if that seems too difficult, do 12 hours a day for a few weeks, then 10 hours, and then finally get down to 8 hours.

Guidelines for Intermittent Fasting:

  • Drink as much WATER as you like, whenever you like
  • Eat only during a set number of hours (8 works really well, but 12 or 10 is good too)
  • Eat natural, minimally processed foods, and choose organic or wild whenever you can (if you do intermittent fasting while eating the Standard American Diet – complete with refined sugar, trans fats and artificial everything – then it’s a waste of time. QUALITY of food is still king)

Once you get into Intermittent fasting, and give your body 14-16 hours a day when you are NOT eating, the positive benefits can be IMMENSE

Including more ENERGY and more PERFORMANCE (including stronger erections and better stamina).

2. A 3 Day Juice/Smoothie/Soup Fast

This is more extreme than Intermittent Fasting, but is only done for a short time. 3 days is a good length of time if you’re new to fasting, though even 1 day is beneficial.

The idea here is that you give your digestive system a break from:

  • Solid food (which is harder to digest than liquid food)
  • Fats and Proteins (which are typically harder to digest that liquid fruits and vegetables)

An example of this kind of fast could be:

6am 1 glass of water

8am 1 pint of carrot, apple, beetroot and lemon juice

10am 1 glass of water

12 noon 1 pint of cucumber, celery, apple, spinach and lime juice

2pm 1 glass of water

4pm Homemade Vegetable Soup

6pm 1 glass of water

8pm 1 glass of water

This kind of fasting is a good option if you want to give your digestive system a break, but still have to be BUSY and ACTIVE (because you can drink as much as you like – and still get plenty of calories from fruits and vegetables).

A good friend of mine actually did something like this very recently, and said she felt more energized than she had in YEARS. And, she’s now made juicing a regular part of her daily routine (she has a pint of freshly made juice before breakfast each day – which provides a ton of vitamins, minerals and enzymes).

3. Missing a Day of Eating Once or Twice a Month

The Indian Mystic Sadghuru says that if you’re really in tune with your body, then once or twice a month you’ll naturally FAST…

Because you simply won’t want to eat!

Of course, most westerners are so out of tune with their body’s that this NEVER happens for them, but it’s possible.

And I can confirm it’s true. Though, because I’m so active I tend not to fast on WATER – instead, when I don’t really feel like eating (typically once or twice a month), I’ll do JUICES. That way I still have plenty of ENERGY to get through my day.

I can also tell you that all animals naturally understand the healing power of a fast…

Years ago, my parents’ 18 year old cat went away looking very sick. They thought it had gone away to die. For 3 days it didn’t bring any mice, nor did it come home for food.

However

3 days later Louie returned, spring in his step, mouse in his mouth! We concluded that he’d known he was sick, knew he didn’t want to eat – so he didn’t! And, he healed.

Am I Saying Fasting is Always The Answer?

Nope.

But I am saying that fasting can often help.

And, if you have ED, then you are NOT in “peak physical condition” – that’s an irrefutable fact (even though many men love to email me and say: “Hey Adam, I’m in peak health and physical fitness, fit as a fiddle I tell you, I just have one problem – my cock doesn’t work”).

So…

If you want to be healthier and improve your sexual performance, I am suggesting that some kind of fast may be a tool you can use to feel better.

Just remember to only fast under the guidance of a medical professional, IF you want to do something like a 3 day WATER fast (or anything more extreme).

But, doing a juice/smoothie/soup fast for 2 or 3 days, or Intermittent Fasting is relatively EASY – and a great introduction to fasting.

And it really could give you a serious boost in sexual performance.
