Nothing Feels Worse Than Wasted Potential – Here’s How to Live Your Life to The Max…
By Adam Armstrong
This blog post will be nothing like my usual stuff…
It won’t directly be about sex or sexual performance (though the ideas in it can improve your sex-life for sure)…
It won’t be a “Top 10 Best Ways to”…
Or a “7 Things to Avoid”…
Instead, this is me going DEEP into how to achieve your potential as a HUMAN BEING.
Now, you might think I’m getting out of my lane…
You might think I’m getting too full of myself…
But, I think if you read this, and read it carefully, with an OPEN MIND, you’ll find it interesting at worst…
And completely LIFE-CHANGING at best!
So buckle up, give me your full concentration, and read on carefully…
Who Gives a Shit About “Potential” Anyway?
This idea of “living up to your true potential” is a funny one…
To some people – a small, often very SUCCESSFUL group of people – this idea comes naturally…
Every single day they simply try to be better…
They might try to eat better, exercise better, work better, be a better father, mother, lover and so on.
Whatever it is, they just have this mind-set that every day, they’ll become better…
And even though, from one day to the next, the improvements are tiny, over time they add up. Sometimes to GREATNESS.
Other people live the opposite way…
For whatever reason – oftentimes a really traumatic childhood, or a particularly challenging event in their life – they live a life of DESTRUCTION…
Drink, drugs, junk food.
No exercise.
No purpose.
No real reason to get up in the morning.
This never ends well. Sure, the drink, drugs, junk food and other “pleasures” provide a temporary HIGH…
They temporarily relieve the individual from the PAIN that’s engulfed them.
But, instead of trying to live up to their HUMAN POTENTIAL, and become better with each and every day…
Instead they are slowly dying.
Of course, most people live somewhere in the middle…
Not on a path of daily destruction, but still living nowhere near their true potential…
They eat well, sometimes.
They avoid alcohol, most of the time.
They work hard to provide for their families, but doing a job they’re not exactly “in love” with.
They exercise, sporadically. Loads in January, not so much by March.
You get the idea.
This isn’t a “bad” life. It’s just not a GREAT one. It’s not living up to your true Human Potential.
Now Here’s The Thing…
Trying to become the best version of yourself, and really committing to it, day in day out, is not EASY.
You have to say “no” to a lot of things…
Things that are often PLEASURABLE in the short term (drink, drugs, alcohol and so on)…
And you have to say “YES” to things that, at first, seem boring, regimented and often lacking excitement (eating well, drinking WATER, exercising regularly, 8 hours of sleep a night, meditating and so forth).
But, over time, these healthy daily habits start to transform you…
You start to feel yourself becoming a better man (or woman) every single day…
Other people start to notice it…
They see how good you look, how much energy you have. They see your fortunes changing. They see you becoming more successful in ALL areas of your life. They feel your Mojo growing…
Sure, some become jealous, and you outgrow them…
The good ones want to learn from you.
This is NOT an easy path – the one where you try to fulfill your true Human Potential…
But it is the BEST way to live your life.
It’s actually the NATURAL way to live your life…
The problem is – today’s modern world is filled with distractions that rip us from our true purpose, and encourage us to live much less of a life.
The question is:
How Do You Do it? How Do You Get Off The Path of Mediocrity (or Self Destruction) and Get Onto The Path of Unleashing Your True Potential?
Well, if you’d have asked me that question years ago, I’d have said it’s all about drive, willpower, being a “BEAST” and so on…
And, that’s kind of true. Sort of.
However, in recent years, I’ve been doing A LOT of meditation, and learning from great spiritual teachers like Sadghuru and Micheal Singer.
And they all talk about DEATH.
Now, don’t shit the bed and stop reading. This is about to get REAL
Look, I get it…
DEATH isn’t a “nice” thing. But it is a thing. A definite part of this journey as a human being…
And, at first, when people like Sadghuru or Micheal Singer would mention “death,” I’d switch off. I didn’t want to hear about it. I thought the whole thing was very NEGATIVE.
But, over time, I listened to these amazing human beings more closely, and realized their message is profound, yet incredibly clear…
One day you will close your eyes for the final time. And at that point, that’s it. This experience as a human being is over.
You don’t have to fear it
It’s actually ok
You can even try it right now – just close your eyes.
That’s it.
That’s all you see when your time comes.
Black.
You could even say PEACE.
But here’s the thing…
Once you accept that this HUMAN journey… this incredible human experience is NOT forever…
Then, and only then will you have the DRIVE to live your life to the max…
To make the absolute most of your life, each and every day.
At that point, when you have this realization, accept it and make peace with it, then you won’t have to decide whether or not to live every day to the fullest…
It’ll just happen.
Living any other way will seem ridiculous to you!
You’ll want to do nothing but live every day, like it was your last. Like a masterpiece, where every minute is to be enjoyed, savored, cherished and used wisely*
*And “NO”… wisely doesn’t necessarily mean pay off the mortgage and grow a nice pension! That’s just what we’ve been taught to do in the West.
Having Kids Really Changed Things for Me…
As a father, you have a unique opportunity…
Depending on your actions, you could totally ruin your kid’s life before they hit their teenage years…
Think about how 1 parent households turn out (in general, not as good as 2 parent households).
You could set them up for a life of mediocrity (if YOU are mediocre, chances are your kids will be too)…
Or you could be a complete badass, live like GREATNESS would, and be a role model and true inspiration, not only to your kids, but to everyone you interact with in your entire life.
It’s your choice.
A Few More Random Thoughts Related to Human Potential…
- If you truly want to live up to your human potential, you must dial in your HEALTH – because mental or physical dis-ease will greatly hold you back (trust me: years ago, when I neglected my health and had a stomach ulcer, I was certainly NOT living my best life)
- As a bare minimum, to “dial in” in your health, you need to eat well, hydrate well, exercise regularly and sleep well (you can only neglect these 4 things for so long before it catches up with you)
- You cannot achieve your true Human Potential by working a job you HATE, just to pay the bills… I’m not saying this a “bad” thing to do… it’s just not a path to your very BEST life
- Find your true purpose… something that you’re truly passionate about… and then spend as much time as you can doing this thing (hopefully it’s something that makes a positive difference in the world)
- Once you commit to the path of living every day to the max, and achieving your true potential, certain people in your life may try to hold you back (because your improvements make them feel inadequate)… never let these people influence you
- If you’re going to do something, do it well, no matter what it is
In Conclusion…
- One day you will shut your eyes for the final time. Once you accept this FACT, it’s so much easier to live every day as if it were your last… make the most of every minute… spend it with people you love… do things you truly enjoy… and never stop growing as a human being

23/06/2023 - 12:16 pmLife is only really enjoyable when there is improvement. So it makes sense to try and better oneself if ALL the key areas of your life. Do this consistently and life will be enjoyable in the long-run. They’ll still be challenges along the way, but it’ll mostly be a positive experience!
