How to Be a Man!

I realize that the title of this blog post – How to Be a Man! – is pretty loaded. Indeed, I could write an entire book, or two, on the subject.

That said, the FACT of the matter is this

A huge number of men, in the West, are EMASCULATED. They’re been told that masculinity in ‘Toxic’ – and, as a result… they have no idea how to embrace their masculinity and be THE MAN they are supposed to be.

In this blog post I’m going to show you 5 Key Things I think every man should be doing.

Because, when you do the 5 Key Things you’re about to discover, you’ll be A MAN. Not just a human being with a penis attached, but a MAN.

How to Be a (Better) Man – in 5 Simple Steps…

#1: Take Control of Your Health

Without your health, you have nothing. Period.

As a man, it is your responsibility to take control of your health, and do all that you can to hold onto it, for the duration of your life.

When you have health, you can ACHIEVE and be SUCCESSFUL.

When you have health, you feel HAPPY and JOYFUL. And, you are pleasant to be around.

When you are healthy, and radiant, high quality women want to be with you, and other men RESPECT you.

The moment you neglect your health, and hand your health over to Doctors and ‘Big Pharma’ – your quality of life WILL suffer. Pills, tests, surgeries, examinations and so on – they ALL come with negative consequences.

Please remember this:

It’s so much easier to take control of your health, than it is to have to undo health problems! (Remember the old saying: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!”)

Here are few tips that’ll allow you take control of your health like a MAN:

  • Get 7-8 hours quality sleep each night. Preferably at the same time every night
  • Drink 2 litres of clean water a day. Minimum
  • Eat a healthy, balanced diet – including lots of vegetables and fruits. And go Organic whenever you can
  • Do all that you can do reduce your stress levels
  • Exercise daily. Even if it’s just going for a 10 minute walk

Simple stuff.

Yet, most men don’t do it.

Then they wonder why they feel 85 when they hit 55!

#2: Get Strong, Work on Movement Quality and Practice Self-Defense

A man should move well – with balance, coordination, athleticism, great posture and pain-free joints.

A man should be strong.

A man should know how to protect himself, and those he loves.

The question is:

“How?”

When it comes to fixing your posture, and bullet-proofing your joints – the very best system I’ve ever come across (and the one I’ve been using day-in-day-out for YEARS) is Original Strength. I highly recommend you check out their blog and youtube channel.

When it comes to STRENGTH TRAINING – forget about reading the ‘Bodybuilding Magazines’ and following the routines of Pro Bodybuilders who are off their heads on a cocktail of drugs that are pretty much guaranteed to cut their lives short.

Instead, follow the time-tested and proven practices of strength training that cannot fail – so long as you commit to them:

  • Train regularly. At least twice a week
  • Train with big multi-compound exercises – like squats, deadlifts, presses, rows and loaded carries
  • Use heavy weights, and low reps (5 or less)
  • Take reasonably long rests between sets. 2-3 minutes

That is how STRENGTH is built.

Finally, let’s deal with self-defense:

If you can, find a serious self-defense instructor. Here in the UK, I’m fortunate to have Matty Evans within a 2 hour drive. And, I’ve spent many hours training with him (one of the best self-defense instructors in the world).

If you don’t have access to a guy like Matty – start with Boxing.

Boxing will teach you footwork, and it’ll arm you with the most useful skill any man can have in a fight – a VERY HARD PUNCH.

I’m not saying Boxing is all you should do. But, it’s a damn good start.

#3: Provide

As well as PROTECTION, a man is supposed to PROVIDE.

For himself. For his woman. For his kids.

The other day I got talking to a Grandmother of 2 boys who go to the same school as my daughter. I didn’t realise, but one of the boys has a severe health condition.

When he was born with the health condition, the father left. He abandoned his older child (who was perfectly healthy), his newborn son (who has the health condition), and his wife.

That is NOT a man.

That is a COWARD.

That is not how a man is supposed to behave.

Yet, many men do behave like this these days. Shying away from their responsibilities, failing miserably to provide for their children and woman.

A man PROVIDES. Period.

#4: Find Your True Passion

Without a passion – a man is DOOMED to feeling like life is never enough.

Health, Strength, Movement Quality, Self-Defense, Providing for those you love… that’s all GREAT. But, it’s foundational. It’s just what a man is supposed to do (the fact many men don’t do those things is simply a reflection of the dire state our society is in right now).

But, those foundational things will not totally FULFIL you as a man.

You must have a PASSION.

It could be a sport. It could be playing music. It could be racing karts. It could ANYTHING.

Just find your passion. And, spend time on it whenever you can.

#5: Create Value

The final thing a MAN must do – and the most important – is to CREATE VALUE for others.

Personally, I create value for men by writing blog posts, recording podcasts, creating eBooks, developing SuperFood Blends and so on.

I get paid for some of these things.

Others I do for free.

Either way – I get satisfaction from knowing that I’m helping men to be better men. That’s what I mean when I say ‘creating value’.

Nothing will give you greater satisfaction that helping others by creating value.
